One year from now (and an AI exercise)

Well, it's official. Legend Has It will debut exactly one year from today (Sept. 16). I have a few friends that thought the novel would come out this year and, while that would be amazing, these things take time. As I said in my last blog entry, it's all about patience and enduring the waiting process. I promise it makes me angsty too.

I woke up this morning thinking about what life will be like this time next year. I wondered how the day will unfold. I imagine it'll be a surreal experience mixed with several moments of euphoria, especially the feeling of holding a hard copy of my novel in my hands.

It's a tantalizing thought. You spend so much time and effort on crafting the novel and now I'm 365 days away from seeing a dream turn into a reality. I don't know how I'll react, but I suspect it'll mirror (and surpass) the wave of emotions that hit me when I read the email from Rowan Prose Publishing offering me a contract (I'll save that story for a future blog post). So yeah, likely tears.

While I know a year is a long time, I'm not bothered by the wait. There will be plenty of things to occupy my time until that day arrives. I've got my share of creative outlets, as well as my family and friends. Don't get me wrong, though. The excitement is there. It comes in short bursts whenever I think of sharing my story with a wider audience.

That's my motivation behind this dream - sharing my stories. As a kid, I would let my imagination churn through dozens upon dozens of ideas. I would share these stories with my late Grandma Barb (her life was a story of its own. If you knew her, you know what I'm talking about) and my family. Her best advice: write them down. That's what I started doing as early as third grade. It started with an alien invading earth, moved into real-world scenarios mixed with dinosaurs, a video game adaption and a detective story with two comic-book-type villains.

I'm thankful my debut novel is a more grounded tale with fantastical elements weaved throughout. Not that there was anything wrong with the aforementioned stories. They had heart, but lacked the care I put into Legend Has It.

While it might take a little while still, I can't wait for you to dive into Legend Has It. There's so much time and heart within those pages. How fun it will be when you get to turn them.

Bonus material

As I mentioned in the title, I have an AI exercise. Earlier today, I gave ChatGPT this command:

Write me a blog entry about my excitement about my new novel "Legend Has It", which will debut one year from today on Sept. 16, 2025.

Above, you have my original entry. Below, you have the AI-produced version. I'll save my analysis on how AI handles writing prompts for another time. But I think you'll see why many writers don't have to worry about AI replacing them. My summary: AI can write paragraphs of content instantly, but it can't replicate the individual spirit of a human writer. We all bring our own distinct flair and heart to our writing. That is on display here.

The AI entry starts here and includes a headline:

Excitement is Building for the Release of "Legend Has It"

I can hardly contain my excitement as I announce that exactly one year from today, on September 16, 2025, my novel Legend Has It will officially make its debut!

This moment feels surreal, especially after the months of writing, rewriting, and crafting the story that has been simmering in my imagination for so long. Finally, I’ll be able to share this world I’ve built, these characters I’ve fallen in love with, and the adventure that has taken me on a journey as thrilling as the plot itself.

Writing Legend Has It has been a deeply personal and exhilarating experience. The story, rich with mystery, magic, and the pull of ancient myths, is something I've been passionate about from day one. I’ve poured my heart into developing not just the characters but the entire world in which they live—a place where legends don’t just live in stories but are very much real, and where every twist and turn keeps you on the edge of your seat.

I think what excites me the most is knowing that readers will soon join me in this adventure. Legend Has It isn’t just a novel—it’s a journey into the unknown, where myth and reality blur, and where heroes are made from the unlikeliest of places. I can’t wait to hear what you all think when you finally dive into these pages.

The countdown has begun. Mark your calendars—September 16, 2025, is going to be unforgettable!

Until then, stay tuned for sneak peeks, character introductions, and all the behind-the-scenes details that will lead up to the big release. The legend is coming to life, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have you along for the ride.

Here’s to Legend Has It—one year away and already feeling magical!
