Well, here I am. After seeing several friends express themselves through numerous blog entries over the past two decades, I finally caved and created a blog of my own.
It’s not that bad. As someone with a journalism background, I became used to covering heated topics and general news assignments through an objective lens. I always had my opinions, but I became conditioned to not sharing them willingly, much less in public and even less likely on the Internet. My personal social media pages tend not to have much on them for this same reason. Even though I hung up my pen and notepad over a decade ago, some habits are difficult to break.
But I’m happy to make an exception for something I love – writing. My goal is to use this blog to talk about this aspect of my life. I’ll share some personal stories about how writing has impacted my life, how I turn ideas into larger concepts and the fun details in my most recent journey of becoming a published author.
The reality of those last two words still hits me in waves. Sometimes it doesn’t feel real; other times, it sends a tear down my cheek. During my childhood, I dreamt of seeing my name on the cover of a book. When I watched Back to the Future, I'd smile every time when George McFly opened the large box and pulled out his first novel. When I would write my own stories, I envisioned seeing them encased in a hardcover on a bookshelf.
There is so much more to say on that and many other things that I’ll share through this blog. For now, thank you for visiting my page and taking an interest in my writing. In other words, welcome to my blog. I appreciate you spending some of your time here.
